BLUDLINE: A Hip-Hop Odyssey at Greenwich House Theater
BLUDLINE: A Hip-Hop Odyssey was part one of Matchbook Spark Vol. 2, presented by Mix and Match Productions at The Greenwich House Theater, paired with The One-Man Odyssey. Fermin Suero, Jr. and Pete White wrote it and perform in it, a retelling of the Odyssey through live hip-hop and R&B. Odysseus trying to get home, Telemachus trying to survive without him, a community that's gone sideways in the meantime.
This was a concert performance, everyone at a mic stand, so I knew where the frames would be before it started. What changed through the night was who was turned toward whom.
Suero and White perform alongside Phillip Johnson Richardson, Alaman, Ladibree, Safa, Alexander Manuel, and Taylor Fagins. Eight people at mic stands means the group frames fill up fast.
White was on guitar as well as vocals, sometimes both at once.
I worked from the back of the house with room to move along the back wall and down house right.
Fixed positions and a long lens meant the solo turns were the easiest to isolate.
