Every Voice Choirs’ Earth Day Jazz Concert at Riverside Church

On April 7, 2025, Every Voice Choirs presented their annual Earth Day Jazz concert. Originally scheduled to take place at Grant’s Tomb Plaza, the concert was moved indoors to Riverside Church due to the threat of rain. The venue change didn’t dampen the spirit of the event; if anything, it added to the sense of community as families and friends gathered inside to celebrate jazz and Earth Day.

Four youth choir members sing at the front of the risers, facing the audience while the rest of the choir stands with their backs turned.

The concert featured Every Voice Kids Choir, Youth Choir, Concert Choir, Cornerstone Intergenerational Choir, and singers from EVC’s school satellite programs. With voices of all ages joining together on stage, the performance was a true reflection of the organization’s mission to make music inclusive, joyful, and accessible.

There was something special about hearing jazz standards and earth-themed songs echo through the historic halls of Riverside Church. The singers brought vibrant energy and heartfelt expression to every piece, and the audience responded in kind with warmth and applause.

Photographing this event was a joy. From the lighting and architecture of the space to the animated performances and spontaneous smiles, every moment felt worth capturing. Events like this one remind me just how powerful music can be in bringing people together.
